Authorities gone mad
Letters
Jan 21, 2006
I write with regard to your report about the word "marriage" being
taken off signs at Stourbridge Register Office.
I believe most people think those in authority have gone mad with all that is
taking place these days. But this seems to be the final indicator.
Your article tells us that council bosses were concerned the old signs would be
unfeeling to couples taking part in civil partnerships as it did not take into
account their ceremony.
Don't they realise that taking away the word "marriage" offends those
who believe in marriage?
If we believe the recent statistics it would seem those who believe in this
great institution of marriage are indeed in the minority these days. So perhaps
they should look at what is an offence to us.
I agree totally with my friend and colleague, Paul Chamberlain, who said it is
another indication of the eroding of the Christian beliefs of this country.
Where and when is it going to end? I would suggest only at the return of Jesus
Christ!
You also stated in the article that regional councils are being recommended to
remove references to "marriage". Could I ask who is making these
recommendations in the first place?
No doubt all will be revealed in good time.
