The Decibel Penguin Prize for Short Stories

   Folks (please forward)

Please cross Penguin and Ladybird books off the kids Christmas list!

In conjunction with the Arts Council England they are running a
competition to discover the next big author. It is open to all authors in
England although they must not have previously have had a full length book published......and they must not be white. That's right. If you are white, you are automatically excluded from the competition. And that's right it is co-run by the Arts Council England, paid for by all of us. And yes, our beloved leaders also get a look in. Minister for Culture David Lammy is the patron for the prize.

The black, muslim or any other community would not stand for this and
neither should we. The English community MUST take a leaf out of their book and we MUST start to see ourselves, and act, as an individual ethnic group.

We have stood idly by and allowed instances such as this to go unchallenged for far too long. How would we feel if it was one of our kids who was being denied this opportunity solely on the basis of their ethnicity. We need to bring about a climate where instead of businesses falling over themselves to be associated with projects like these, they would instead, not touch them with a barge pole because we have made it socially and financially unacceptable for them to do so. When things go against us we should respond as others do, and that is, as a community and they will soon get the message. If we don't, then they will walk all over us and we will simply be seen as the cultureless chaff left over from the proud ethnic wheat.

Dear Sir,

My attention has been drawn to the competition your company is
holding - The Decibel Penguin Prize for Short Stories.

I believe from reading the rules and the ethnic data form, you are
requesting/suggesting that white people cannot enter this competition,
is this correct? If yes, this is racist towards white people and I intend to complain
to the Commission for Racial Equality if so.

I await your reply to my query,

Yours sincerely,

J Howman

Re: The Decibel Penguin Prize for Short Stories

Congratulations, Penguin Books!

One great step towards the dissolution of England.

No whites allowed – a brilliant stand against the native race of this nation.

I’m afraid I cannot claim to be anything like as racist as yourselves but I am of a family that has been here for at least six centuries and so my children can obviously not expect to compete on equal terms with those who have skin of a darker persuasion.

I hope it may it very soon get to the stage where you can only do anything in this country if you have been here no more than ten minutes.

"Raising the voice of cultural diversity" – you must be joking!

Does it not occur to you that positive discrimination is still discrimination?

I can assure you that there will be no Ladybird books in any of my children’s Christmas stockings this year. For several decades I have enjoyed Penguin Books and considered them a standard against which to judge others; no longer.

Yours Sincerely,

Alan Mynall

Subject: The Decibel Penguin Prize

Dear Sir/Madam,

Further to the above.  My copy of 'Conditions of Entry' appear to exclude persons of white ethnic origin.  This is, of course, illegal.

I would respectfully ask that you withdraw this exclusion by Monday, 5th December, 2005.  Should you fail so to do, I will send prima facie evidence to the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Commission for Racial Equality and my MP, David Willetts.

Yours faithfully,

John Green

To whom it may concern,

I would like to draw your attention to the rules of the above competition which appear to be completely racist as they deliberately excludes writers of white ethnicity. The rules of the competition are here for your perusal:

In the interest of racial harmony I'm sure the CRE will investigate.

Dear Penguin

I was very alarmed to read the rules of the above competition, which appear to be completely racist. I have passed on my concerns to the Commission for Racial Equality.

Encouraging writing is a laudable endeavor, but why should budding white writers be excluded from this competition?

kind regards

dear  Sir/Madam

I'm emailing you as I am deeply upset about the penguin book competition racist entry requirements (white not being allowed to enter) I believe your aim is to promote racial harmony and fairness, (something I'm absolutely for) I beg you to look at this situation clearly and the wider ramifications of the far too many instances of blatant racial prejudices whites have to suffer in this day and age. The amazing thing is that people seem to be accepting of this prejudice only because its against white people. Without question this slow drip drip of anti white attitude that has become so ok, must have been what happened to the Jews in nazi Germany. That may sound funny, but lets look at how on earth they went from a normal civilised society to rounding up thousands of blacks, cripples, gypsies and Jews for experimentation and torture. An acceptable climate for that to happen didn't happen over night, it started with the mis-conception that the Jews had it too good and were somehow responsible for most of the bad things that happen. This is a myth shared about white people, which is why whites are barred from jobs and training courses in the guise of "positive discrimination". By the very nature of that its must mean that its negative for others. We as a civilised society cannot and must not dish out privilege or punishment based on skin colour. Please look at the bigger picture of allowing this penguin writing competition to continue. Decent moderate well educated whites are rightly becoming very resentful of this continued racism and anti English attitude. And why shouldn't they? No right thinking person would agree with blacks or Asians being barred from anything, so why oh why do the powers that be allow this kind of discrimination against the whites? If we are going to live in harmony with each other we have to treat each other with mutual respect and consideration, if not we are stoking the flames under an already simmering pot! I really think the CRE must start being a little more on the ball about this type of thing as i can almost predict the consequences for all of us will be disastrous. I think a spokesperson from Penguin books should now be encouraged to make a public apology for offending the ethnic majority. from Rosanna webb

What an absolute disgrace, I have forwarded it all my friends and to my MP and also responded to the culprits!
