The article in the Mail started off thus. Arriving at the last known address, I knocked on the door. An Arabic woman answered. I showed her my warrant card and said "I'm from immigration, looking for Mr. Mohammed" She shook her head and said "Sorry, he not here” “Do you know where he is?” She nodded. “Oh yes. He is in Egypt.” “But he claimed asylum because he was fleeing Egypt.” “I know. But he went back for a family wedding; he will be back next week”. You couldn’t make it up but it’s par for the course!!!
The girl smuggled herself out of Belarus, through Poland, across Germany and France and through to the south of England, claiming asylum as she was terrified for her life back home. She got a job, learnt English and found a boyfriend. She had been here about a year when she felt unwell. She went to the doctor but was not satisfied with his diagnosis or treatment. So she smuggled herself back through Poland into Belarus to visit her doctor and spent about three weeks visiting her family and catching up with friends. Then smuggled herself back out again through Poland and back to the new life she had carved for herself.
