Estonian
Daily newspaper - Postimees (13.12.2005)
Lithuanian and Latvian economies are threatened by massive emigration because
already 150,000 people have used the free movement to find a better life
elsewhere.
Economics Editor wrote that during 18 months 100,000 people have left Lithuania
and 50,000 left Latvia. The number of Polish emigrants is considered much
larger.
Irish newspapers have already advertised to newcomers from the Baltics in
Lithuanian and sometimes even publish news in Lithuanian.
Between May and July 2005 Estonian workers moving abroad were:
Great Britain 3260
Ireland 2861
Finland 1692
Norway 581
France 58
Cyprus 33
Tshekhia (Tashkent) 9
Most people who left to go to England worked as government officials, secondly
in the client-service sector and third were workers in agriculture.
My source comments: So you see from the Estonian statistics that the situation
is more than serious if Polish, Lithuanians etc choose their first target as
Britain.
