This was a "political" manouvre nothing more. The compromise uniform was entirely "modest" as is required of Moslem dress (well the women anyway, curiously it doesn't seem to apply to the men, quelle surprise!). This young woman was simply trying to make a political point and no doubt had she got her way, she would next have been demanding the right to wear a Bourkha and soon thereafter demanding all her fellows do as well.

She made her point very well, to the tune of £50,000 from the British taxpayer for legal aid.  Is there no way someone could have stepped in somewhere closer to the begining of these proceedings and said Yes or No, and saved the price of a senior teachers yearly salary.

She will probably head off to Europe next and cost the price of a small school in the process, then the next time something like this comes up some PC politician will make a discrete phone call and advise it would be cheaper to give in than fight it.

Cherie Blair was involved in this case, with two other members of her chambers Matrix, they received several thousands pounds in payments, she is also friendly with the group who supported this girl, this group received £600,000 from the lottery, and £700,000 from the taxpayer, considering there was only one person from the family that pushed for this action, and that was the girls brother, who is also friendly with the miltant group that also supported the girl, it does seem strange to me that this Blair woman took this case as far she did, but as they say "A nice little earner".
