Voting Trends - Readers Letters

These are readers letters submitted to various national and local newspapers.

Anila Baig (muslim Sun Columnist) asks if we can imagine an all-white Britain without all the non-white Nurses and Doctors.  I don't have to imagine it, I remember it.  Now we import people from the third world, whose willingness to work for lower wages means government can fill vacancies without having to recruit and train our own people.  The BNP has my vote.

Letter sent to the Birmingham Post

See, here we have the thinking of one of the woolly brigade. These people promote multiculturalism, but in reality their lives are as far removed from it as possible. My guess is the person who wrote this leader lives out in the wilds of Knowle and Dorrige – Lapworth, even. Five’ll get you ten he/she doesn’t live in Alum Rock or any one of about thirty other districts I could roll off my tongue with ease.

No, this one is a ‘Lemming’ - with a capital 'L' – a liberal Lemming.  ‘If he/she disagrees with what I say or think just call them a racist – yeah! That’ll shut ‘em up every time’. Wrong! Am I a racist because I wish to see my own culture and race preserved as the majority in this city, after all, it is my ancestors that have helped shape it – have fought their country's wars to ensure we retained our own way of life – our own culture – our own way of doing things.

You ask ‘What is ‘inherently’ wrong with Birmingham having a majority ethnic population?’ The answer is really simple – just like the person who posed the question and used such a duff word to do so. This city is called Birmingham. Birmingham is situated at the heart of England. England is an island lying close by the continental European mainland…not the Indian subcontinent – not Africa; not the Middle East. It has always been populated by Englishmen of European ancestry – not Asians, not Africans, and not Middle Easterners.

You seem to believe it is okay for the indigenous of this city to be displaced and become a minority ethnic enclave themselves. My God! This is happening in all of our cities and major towns – it isn’t just restricted to Birmingham. Where will the English go when they are left with only the sea behind them? I am a Brummie born and bred and have lived the 58 years of my life within the city limits – I do not like feeling that I am an alien in my own homeland. I, like millions of my fellow countrymen and women, were not consulted about the turning of this sacred isle into some liberals ideal of a utopian dream. You want that dream – come live it!  I do NOT want that nightmare and I see NO reason for you to be allowed to impose it on me.  In fact, how dare you, HOW DARE YOU change my life to suit your own misguided ideology.

Matthew, an American living in England, says that given current political realities the BNP is the only hope:

Englishmen wanting to determine whether the BNP is really as wicked as people say got this assist from Rachel Sylvester writing in the Telegraph:

"The BNP deserves scorn rather than scare-mongering. Not only is it utterly pernicious (a leaflet distributed by the party after the July 7 bombings said, “If only they had listened to the BNP”), it is also useless if faced with the reality of power."

Now, as we know, the BNP has been warning for years about the dangers of Muslim immigration in Britain, and, furthermore, BNP chairman Nick Griffin famously predicted a couple of years ago a mass terrorist attack by Muslims such as actually occurred in July 2005. But, according to Sylvester, for the BNP to distribute leaflets saying, “We told you so,” proves that they are utterly pernicious.

That’s it. Lock them up.

Her statement is so ludicrous that it must have some other meaning. And here it is: A true negative statement about a protected minority group such as Muslims is more morally objectionable than a false negative statement. This is an illustration of Auster’s First Law of Majority-Minority Relations in Liberal Society: The more alien, inassimilable, and dangerous a designated minority or non-Western group actually is, the bigger the politically correct lies that must be told about it, and the more racist it becomes to speak the truth about it.

From Robert Henderson - letter to the Telegraph

Rachel Sylvester (18 April) claims that the rise in support for the BNP  is about rage rather than race. This is a line being routinely peddled  by the media. It is simply wrong.

The native population of Britain - and especially the white working  class - may express their resentment at the invasion of their territory  in terms of the difficulties immigration causes in areas such as crime,  housing, employment and social services, but that is simply a reflection  of the successful intimidation of the mass of the native population by  the native British elite, who have made any expression of direct dislike  of immigrants a criminal offence.

What voters are doing in increasing numbers is registering their anger  and resentment of the colonisation of their territory, a colonisation  made more unbearable because it is the direct policy of those who supposedly have their interests at heart, namely, elected politicians  This anger is not racism, but merely the natural human response to the  invasion of territory by foreigners. Mass migration is loathed  everywhere it occurs.

Yours sincerely,
 Robert Henderson

Sir: In the past few days there has been anguished speculation about how well the BNP may perform in the forthcoming local elections. Most of this seems to have missed the point. The white working classes have been under siege for forty years, both from the right and from the liberal left. Twenty-five years of right-wing economic policy have steadily impoverished them, while the wealthy and university-educated have benefited from globalisation and deregulation.

The left is also culpable; the working classes tend to be socially conservative, placing a high premium on marriage, family, and respect for authority. Ever since the Sixties they have had to put up with these values being mocked by an increasingly smug and arrogant liberal elite.

Add to this the emotive issue of immigration. Again, middle-class liberals have patronisingly lectured the working class as to the benefits of immigration. For them, immigration means a range of trendy ethnic restaurants on the high street and access to cheap childminders. It is the working class who have had to endure diminished access to public housing as local councils highhandedly deem the needs of immigrant newcomers to outweigh the needs of the indigenous council tax payers, who may have been on the waiting list for years; it is they who have to see their children's education suffer as their local school fills up with immigrant children who don't speak English as a first language. And when they dare to complain, they are contemptuously dismissed as racists and bigots by those who are well insulated from the negative effects of immigration. Is it any wonder that out of sheer desperation, some working-class men and women may heed the siren call of the BNP?

If the BNP does do well (there is no guarantee that this will happen), please let none of us resort to that old routine of shaking our heads in sorrow and complaining that the working class has been taken in by the scaremongering of the right-wing press. Have the decency to credit them with more intelligence. We need to make an effort to re-engage with the working classes, to listen to them, and neither patronise them nor tell them that their concerns are not valid. As a start, we can have an honest debate about the costs, as well as the benefits, of immigration.
